Job Description Reporting to the Manager &#x2013; People, the HR Principal will oversee day-to-day HR operations, providing leadership to the site-based HR team. You will ensure compliance with policies and procedures, manage employee relations, and support recruitment and retention efforts while partnering with operational leaders to achieve aligned people outcomes with business needs. This role will also provide essential backup support to the Manager &#x2013; People, and the Training, Camp &amp; Travel and Community functions. This role will be offered as a FIFO opportunity from/to Australia working on a 16/12-day roster. Responsibilities HR Operations and Business Partnering: <ul><li>Provide advice and determinations based on business policy and standards and oversee the operational business partnering team. </li><li>Ensure accurate and timely HR transactional support across all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and services. </li></ul>Employee Relations <ul><li>Manage employee relations and engagement while advising supervisors and managers on HR policy interpretation and procedural matters.</li><li>Lead the Employee representative forum process (with oversight from management).</li><li>Ensure grievances are actioned within a timely and consistent manner. </li></ul>Recruitment And Onboarding Oversight <ul><li>Oversee recruitment initiatives for Papua New Guinea citizen vacancies, promoting local employment and workforce diversity.</li><li>Ensure employee recruitment targets are met in a timely manner, and within budget.</li><li>Oversee the mobilisation of short-term labour for shutdown and Project works.</li><li>Manage and coordinate, via the team, an organised onboarding process for new employees. </li></ul>Team Leadership <ul><li>Supervise and mentor the site-based HR team, fostering professional development and enhancing team performance. </li></ul>Departmental Support And Coverage <ul><li>Training &amp; Development &#x2013; Provide backup leadership support for Training &amp; Development activities, including scheduling, reporting, and compliance tracking.</li><li>Camps &amp; Travel Coordination &#x2013; Assist in coordinating Camps &amp; Travel during peak periods or staff absences, ensuring continuity of service and operational efficiency.</li><li>Audit Support &#x2013; Support HR audit processes and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. </li></ul>Compliance <ul><li>Ensure adherence to internal policies and external employment legislation, maintaining organizational standards and practices. </li></ul>Qualifications Qualifications and Experience: <ul><li>Minimum 10 years&#x2019; experience in Human Resources management, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.</li><li>Minimum 5 years&#x2019; experience in managing large multi-functional teams.</li><li>Experience in a remote environment is advantageous.</li><li>Strong knowledge of industry best practice HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in interacting at senior levels of an organisation.</li><li>Effective communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.</li><li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. </li></ul>What are the benefits of working for Harmony? <ul><li>The opportunity to work for an international mining company with a diverse workforce.</li><li>Work for a company who values their employees and recognises their contribution.</li><li>Excellent safety record.</li><li>Eligible to participate in the company bonus scheme.</li><li>Corporate / discounted rates with Medibank and access to Harmony&#x2019;s rewards and discounts scheme. </li></ul>The successful applicant must be able to meet the requirements for a PNG Work Permit application (organised by Harmony) and a Federal Police Clearance.
