About the Opportunity:
The RETIREMENT PLAN OPERATIONS SPECIALIST role involves administrating, testing, and reporting on 401(k) retirement plans. This position is central to ensuring accurate plan administration and compliance, supporting clients through document review, communication, and preparation of necessary government filings. The role contributes by enabling clients to meet regulatory requirements and maintain proper plan operations, impacting both client success and organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain information from clients for annual reporting
- Review client documents for completeness and accuracy
- Reconcile plans involving rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software
- Use administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting
- Communicate with clients via calls and emails during reporting periods
- Prepare government filings including IRS Form 5500
- Educate clients on 401(k) plan administration and documentation
- Share knowledge and simplify complex topics
- Assist in training related to Retirement Plan Administrator tasks
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements:
- 1 to 5 years of relevant back-office financial operations experience, such as benefits administration, money movement, insurance claims, tax processing, loan/mortgage document processing, or compliance support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Preferred: experience with retirement plan operations including 401(k) or IRA administration, compliance testing, or year-end reporting
- Preferred: experience with reconciliation tasks
- Preferred: associate's or bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Preferred: basic knowledge of 401(k) structures, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations
- Ability to maintain a productive remote workspace with reliable high-speed internet
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
