2. About the Opportunity:
The Resource Planning & Allocation Manager leads company-wide capacity planning, resource allocation, and utilization management. This strategic role ensures the right talent is assigned to the right projects at the right time, aligning staffing with revenue and delivery objectives while maintaining utilization targets and operational efficiency. Positioned within the Operations team, this role coordinates efforts across practices and offshore teams, directly impacting revenue, margin, and delivery predictability.
3. Responsibilities:
• Own the resource intake process across all practices for billable delivery, pre-sales, and internal initiatives
• Validate resource requests for role clarity, skill alignment, timing, and location suitability
• Balance priorities based on revenue, client commitments, utilization, and strategic goals
• Track and manage utilization at company, practice, and role levels to achieve a 75% target
• Identify underutilization, bench risks, and over-allocation and drive proactive redeployment
• Partner with practice leads to adjust staffing in response to utilization changes
• Coordinate with Offshore Resource Manager to plan demand and enforce staffing rules for offshore teams
• Ensure offshore resources are effectively leveraged and allocated according to priorities
• Collaborate with Sales and Pre-Sales to validate staffing feasibility and capacity constraints for pipeline opportunities
• Optimize team composition to balance seniority and onshore/offshore mix to protect margins
• Monitor and flag margin risks from overstaffing or skill mismatches in partnership with Finance and Operations
• Maintain rolling workforce forecasts and recommend hiring based on demand, skills, and offshore leverage
• Define and enforce standard operating procedures for resource management and run regular utilization and capacity reviews
• Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to provide leadership with insights on utilization, bench aging, and allocation
• Partner with Operations and Finance to align data and metrics across systems
4. Requirements:
• 8–12+ years in consulting, professional services, or IT services with resource management experience
• Expertise in capacity planning and utilization tracking in multi-practice environments
• Experience with offshore and nearshore delivery models in organizations of 250–500 employees
• Strong understanding of consulting delivery models and financial metrics like utilization and margin
• Skills in workforce planning, process design, and operational discipline
• Proficiency with Excel, PSA tools, and reporting software
• Ability to make confident, neutral decisions and push back constructively
• Trusted advisor to senior leadership, calm under pressure, and strong systems thinker with good judgment
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• Salary range: $80,000-$130,000
