The team of experienced HR professionals partners with clients from various industries to develop and implement HR solutions that allow business leaders to focus on their missions and fully engage their teams.


About the Opportunity:

The HUMAN RESOURCES PRINCIPAL serves as a strategic HR partner and day-to-day resource for a portfolio of clients, including small businesses and nonprofits. This role leads client relationships, sets priorities, develops solutions, and ensures the delivery of effective HR services. It balances strategic advising with practical execution to help clients address complex HR challenges and improve their HR functions.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead client relationships as a trusted HR advisor, building partnerships with executives, directors, managers, and employees.
  • Develop HR strategies aligned with each client’s business and people priorities.
  • Manage client accounts by setting priorities and coordinating resources across the HR team.
  • Provide broad generalist HR support including employee relations, benefits, leave, payroll, compliance, performance management, and policies.
  • Lead payroll and benefits administration when needed, including multi-state payroll processing and compliance.
  • Manage complex HR initiatives such as organizational change, leadership development, succession planning, and process improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and simplify HR processes.
  • Make independent decisions and provide practical solutions in ambiguous situations.
  • Deliver exceptional client service through clear communication and collaboration.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years progressive HR generalist experience.
  • Experience supporting startups, small businesses, nonprofits, or similarly lean organizations with fewer than 1,000 employees.
  • Broad knowledge across multiple HR functions including employee relations, benefits, leave, compliance, performance management, and payroll.
  • Ability to transition between strategic planning and tactical execution.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems; familiarity with platforms such as ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, Workday, Gusto, or Rippling is advantageous.
  • Strong technology skills and interest in automation and process improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Effective time management and the ability to handle multiple clients and priorities.
  • Client service orientation with a practical problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and maintain workflow.
  • Resourcefulness and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.


Pay Range and Compensation Package:

  • Base salary range of $80,000 to $110,000.
  • Full benefits package plus 401(k) match.
