The role anchors the people-team's day-to-day operations, owning employee lifecycle programs from onboarding through offboarding, benefits administration, and compliance.
You will be the first point of contact for employee relations, policy questions, and HR program delivery across a remote-first workforce of 200+, partnering with recruiting, finance, and leadership to keep people operations running smoothly as the company scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end onboarding and offboarding, including new-hire orientation, I-9 verification, and systems setup in Rippling and Workday
- Administer benefits programs (medical, dental, 401k) and serve as the primary contact for open enrollment, carrier escalations, and leave-of-absence management (FMLA, ADA, state leave laws)
- Handle first-line employee relations: investigate complaints, document findings, and escalate complex cases to leadership and counsel
- Maintain HR compliance across multi-state employment: track required postings, audits, EEO reporting, and state-specific employment requirements
- Develop and update company policies and the employee handbook; communicate changes clearly across a distributed team
- Run engagement programs including performance review cycles, compensation review support, and pulse surveys using Lattice
- Maintain accurate HRIS data, produce headcount and attrition reporting, and drive process improvements across people operations
- 3-6 years of HR Generalist or People Operations experience, ideally in a high-growth technology environment
- Working knowledge of employment law and compliance across multiple states, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO requirements
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, or similar) and performance management tools (Lattice, Culture Amp)
- Experience administering benefits and leave programs, including open enrollment and accommodation processes
- Solid judgment in employee relations: able to investigate sensitive issues fairly, document thoroughly, and maintain confidentiality
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience; SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus
- Bonus: experience with multi-state payroll support, equity compensation administration (Carta), or building people programs from scratch at a scaling startup
