Role Overview
The HR Benefits & Compliance Coordinator is responsible for administering employee benefits programs, managing risk-related claims, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, labor laws, and regulatory requirements.
This role serves as a key resource for employees by supporting benefit-related inquiries, leave administration, and compliance reporting across the organization.
Key Responsibilities_Benefits Administration_
- Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
- Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Determine benefit eligibility and respond to employee benefit inquiries.
- Conduct benefits orientation for new hires, including explanation of 401(k) plans and enrollment options.
Workers’ Compensation & Risk Management
- Coordinate, process, and track workers’ compensation claims from initial report through resolution.
- Serve as liaison between employees, management, insurance carriers, and medical providers.
- Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and follow-up for all work-related injury claims.
Payroll & Deductions Coordination
- Review and reconcile payroll deductions related to benefits programs.
- Ensure accurate processing of benefit-related payroll changes.
Time-Off & Leave Management
- Manage employee time-off requests, including vacation, sick leave, and other accruals.
- Maintain and update leave calendars to ensure accurate tracking of absences.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure benefit programs comply with union agreements and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and submit required compliance reports and filings.
Employee Support & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, leave, and workers’ compensation.
- Communicate benefit updates, changes, and deadlines clearly and effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in benefits administration, workers’ compensation, or HR coordination.
- Strong understanding of employee benefits programs and 401(k) plans.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Working knowledge of federal and state labor laws related to benefits and compliance.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and HR data management.
