# Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)


## About the Role


Destination Pet is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support multi-state and multi-site pet and veterinary centers across the United States. The HRBP will partner closely with Operations, Support Center teams, district directors, and center managers to align people strategies with business goals while supporting employee development, performance, compliance, and a high-performance workplace culture.


This role combines strategic HR partnership with hands-on People Operations support. The HRBP will provide guidance on performance management, employee relations, risk management, employment compliance, compensation, training and development, and process improvement. The position requires someone comfortable working across multiple locations, managing complex employee matters, and traveling to centers as needed.


## Key Responsibilities


* Build strong relationships with functional leaders and serve as a trusted strategic HR partner.

* Assess team, manager, and organizational needs and recommend and implement appropriate HR solutions.

* Align people operations strategies with business objectives and organizational priorities.

* Develop and evolve performance management practices and scalable approaches.

* Coach managers through challenging performance conversations and employee situations.

* Provide guidance on sensitive employee relations matters.

* Mediate and investigate escalated employee issues as needed.

* Monitor employment law and regulatory requirements and partner with legal counsel to help mitigate organizational risk.

* Support People Operations functions including performance management, employee relations, compliance, compensation, and training and development.

* Translate business objectives into actionable people strategies.

* Communicate HR information effectively with employees, managers, leaders, and other stakeholders.

* Present information and facilitate discussions clearly and confidently.

* Support teams through periods of organizational growth and change.

* Balance strategic HR initiatives with hands-on operational and administrative responsibilities.

* Support multiple centers across different states, time zones, and operating environments.

* Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, procedures, and team effectiveness.

* Use Workday and other HR tools to support operational excellence.

* Travel to Destination Pet centers as required, including up to 50% of working time on the road.


## Required Qualifications


* Approximately 8 years of experience in HR or People Operations, including experience supporting organizations through significant growth and change.

* Experience supporting multiple centers or locations across multiple states and time zones.

* Experience working in environments with high employee turnover.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Strong coaching, facilitation, and policy development capabilities.

* Strong business acumen and a principled approach to HR decision-making.

* Ability to balance business outcomes, employee experience, organizational risk, and long-term scalability.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

* Experience with U.S. employment law.

* Knowledge of compensation frameworks.

* Experience with training and development programs.

* Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations issues.

* Experience using Workday and other HR tools.

* Detail-oriented approach with a focus on continuous process improvement.

* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with both strategic and hands-on responsibilities.

* Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time to visit centers.

* Ability to reside within driving distance of a major airport in Texas.


## Preferred Qualifications


* Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Development.

* HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.

* Experience working in veterinary hospitals or human healthcare.

## Compensation & Benefits


**Base Pay:** $95,000 – $110,000 + Bonus
