Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: 100% Remote (Must be able to work Pacific Time hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST/PDT)
Employment Type: Contract / Temporary Assignment
Pay Rate: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a temporary contract basis. This fully remote position requires candidates to work standard Pacific Time business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST/PDT). The ideal candidate will have strong payroll processing experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage payroll activities accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Review, audit, and validate payroll data including hours worked, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Maintain employee payroll records and update payroll information as needed.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll audits.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including tax reporting and compliance requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience with multi-state payroll administration.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Experience with Workday.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ADP, Paycom, UKG, or similar payroll platforms.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
- Experience supporting large employee populations.

- Fully remote opportunity.
- Must be available to work Pacific Time Zone hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST/PDT).
- Contract/temporary assignment with immediate start preferred.
- Competitive hourly rate of $25–$30 per hour based on experience.
