About the Opportunity
The Benefits Administrator manages employee benefit programs and leave administration while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. This role serves as a key resource for employees, benefit vendors, and internal teams by overseeing benefit transactions, resolving inquiries, coordinating with carriers and third-party administrators, and supporting enrollment and compliance activities.
Responsibilities
• Administer employee benefit programs, including eligibility, enrollment, life status changes, beneficiary updates, and claims.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefit eligibility, coverage, and plan provisions.
• Process daily benefit transactions, including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, and claims.
• Administer protected and personal leaves of absence while ensuring appropriate compliance and communication.
• Serve as a primary contact for benefit vendors and third-party administrators.
• Respond to inquiries from legal entities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, ADA, PPACA, FMLA, and applicable state leave laws.
• Coordinate benefit premium billing and reconcile payments for accuracy.
• Liaise with benefit carriers to maintain accurate employee data and effective plan administration.
• Support annual Open Enrollment activities and employee wellness initiatives.
• Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate benefit premium deductions.
• Maintain benefit plan documents, employee communications, and related information on the company intranet.
• Assist with benefits audits and required state and federal filings, including Forms 1094-C and 1095-C.
• Maintain accurate employee benefits files, records, and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in benefits administration, including leave administration.
• Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA, ADA, PPACA, FMLA, applicable state leave laws, and Department of Labor regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion.
• Ability to work remotely from Orange County, California, within the Pacific Time Zone.
Pay Range and Compensation Package
• Target pay range of $33.65–$38.46 per hour.
• Eligibility for an annual bonus.
