Enterprise Project Manager III – Healthcare Operations

Our client, a leading healthcare organization dedicated to improving member and provider experiences, is seeking an experienced Enterprise Project Manager III to support large-scale healthcare initiatives focused on clinical operations, utilization management, care management, clinical quality, and related business areas. This individual will lead enterprise-level projects from initiation through completion while partnering closely with clinical teams, business leaders, operational stakeholders, and cross-functional partners to ensure successful delivery. This team is seeking a Project Manager who can quickly orient themselves, navigate ambiguity, and confidently drive projects forward with limited direction. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare project management experience, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and the ability to proactively manage timelines, risks, resources, and competing priorities within a fast-paced PMO environment.

Type: Contract – 12+ Months Duration

Pay Range: $60.00 – 70.00/hr., DOE

Location: 100% Remote

  • Candidates must be able to work Pacific Time Zone hours
  • Preference may be given to candidates located within our client’s footprint (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Utah)
  • Some travel may be required depending on project needs
  • Travel expenses will be reimbursed through the client

Responsibilities of the Project Manager III:

  • Lead large-scale, enterprise-level healthcare projects from initiation through successful completion, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while overseeing schedules, milestones, dependencies, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder communication
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, status reporting, metrics, and governance documentation
  • Partner with business sponsors, clinical operations teams, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify needs, develop solutions, and execute project objectives
  • Facilitate project meetings, leadership updates, and stakeholder discussions while proactively identifying risks, issues, and barriers
  • Manage scope, budgeting, change management, resource allocation, and project lifecycle activities
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, providing guidance, accountability, and support to achieve project goals
  • Analyze project performance metrics, identify trends or concerns, and recommend solutions to maintain project momentum
  • Navigate ambiguity within a fast-moving PMO environment while independently assessing project needs and driving execution
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise project management methodologies, standards, processes, and best practices
  • Communicate project updates, recommendations, risks, and mitigation strategies to all levels of leadership
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to overall project management maturity within the organization

Qualifications of the Project Manager III:

  • 5+ years of progressive project and/or program management experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience supporting clinical operations, utilization management, care management, clinical quality, or related healthcare business areas highly preferred
  • Experience using Smartsheet required
  • Strong preference for healthcare payer, insurance, or managed care experience
  • Demonstrated success managing enterprise-level projects with budgets of $1M+ and cross-functional teams of 10+ individuals
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with complex timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and stakeholder groups
  • Strong schedule management experience including milestone tracking, risk mitigation, resource planning, and issue resolution
  • Experience working directly with business sponsors, clinical stakeholders, and leadership teams to identify needs and implement solutions
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, establish direction, and move projects forward with limited oversight in a fast-paced PMO environment
  • Strong communication, presentation, customer service, relationship-building, and organizational skills
  • Experience presenting project updates, recommendations, and risks to leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Familiarity with PMI methodologies and PMBOK principles
  • Experience with project management tools, reporting systems, and project governance processes
  • PMP certification or formal project management certification strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Candidates must be comfortable working Pacific Time Zone hours
  • Candidates should have flexibility for occasional travel as business needs require

  • Prior healthcare insurance/payer experience is highly valued
  • Candidates who thrive in this environment are proactive, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to quickly assess project needs and begin driving execution
