1 Tell us why you think this role is right for you.2 Tell us how you get your calm on and what makes you laugh.

3 What's your favorite food?4 Is "Die Hard" a holiday movie?

Submit one professional sample of your work, as well as one creative sample of your choice to christine@bethechangehr.com.

This role is unique for several reasons:#1 - It’s remote (mostly). You can work from home, coffee shops, beach views, your boat (invite us if you have one)...wherever you want as long as you have WiFi and cell service. You may have a visit to a client here and there in the area (when it's safe, of course), but we'll work with you.

#2 -We’re flexible with your schedule. For the most part, you’ll work within standard business hours. That said - need to drop off your kids or pick them up? That works. Have a spin class you don’t want to miss at lunch, but still want to eat? Same. As long as you follow a few simple guidelines (wage and hour stuff) and meet your deadlines, we work with you.

#3 - It’s Full- Time…but we work a 32-hour work week! You’ll manage your clients accordingly and make sure that they’re utilizing their hours. Sometimes you may need to put in a little extra time to meet client needs. This role is perfect for someone who wants a solid, flexible role where no two days are exactly the same.

#4 - be the change HR is a social enterprise. If you’re one of our HR Consultants, you are heart-driven to “be the change” and you’ll do so by teaching workplace/job readiness courses to nonprofits' clients to help survivors of sex trafficking. If you have a passion for helping those coming out of very difficult life situations by teaching them workplace readiness skills, you're in the right place.

You are the face, voice, and heart of this company. Without you, we wouldn’t be “be the change HR.” You are responsible for handling our client’s HR projects and processes as a reliable and knowledgeable HR Consultant and true long career HR Generalist. You care about your craft. You bring calm to the sometimes HR storm that can happen. You also know how to have a good time while doing it because let’s be honest, you really love HR. AND you're not a typical HR person. You're actually FUN!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You handle the full scope of our clients needs. This can look like, but not limited to, employee handbooks, job descriptions, HR audits, performance management tools, compensation analysis, and basically anything that comes across HR’s desk.
  • You are a resource to our clients for the gamut of HR questions they may have. You are an excellent coach, and you love finding the perfect solutions for them with calm and ease.
  • You maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure our client’s policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • You know CA employment law like the back of your hand.
  • You guide our clients to think “big picture” when they are hiring, interviewing each candidate not only for skill set but culture fit and value alignment. You don’t do the recruiting for them, but you help along the way.
  • You help onboard new employees for our clients, walk them through the handbook, benefits, and answer any questions to help them join the team with ease. You encourage our clients to have a comprehensive and friendly onboarding process past the first day.
  • You help train our client’s management/lead team in best practices and high-level strategy (everything is based on core values) in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment prevention.
  • You advise management on the appropriate resolution of employee issues, always holding the motto, “What’s the right thing to do?” by either the client or the employee. You are not always on the client’s side.
  • You respond to our client’s inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • You help our clients with their performance management program, always thinking at a high level first, ensuring the company’s core values and business goals are always weaved into the program you help them build.
  • You’re knowledgeable about benefits and can guide our client’s through the process and add valuable input if the plans presented aren’t a good fit for them. You know the rules behind POP plans, ACA, and even, yuck, CalCOBRA or COBRA.
  • If our clients have a work comp issue come up, you know what to do. You are equipped with the knowledge to guide them through the forms and process. You may even have already talked to them about it, and they have everything they need.
  • And in the event they need to let someone go, you’ve got the compliance side covered because of your knowledge, but also you help all parties through the process to offboard employees with dignity.
  • Finally, you’re going to change lives by teaching a workplace readiness course at a local nonprofit (you choose or we can help). And even more awesome, you will offer to coach any participant one-on-one to help them get gainful, healthy employment because you’ve got the skills to get them there.
