Join an early-stage tech startup as an HR Recruitment Volunteer, dedicating 3 hours daily (Monday-Friday) over 60 days to gain hands-on experience in startup talent acquisition. You'll support the hiring process from job posting to candidate screening, learning how fast-growing companies build their teams with limited resources. This role offers practical exposure to the full recruitment lifecycle and the unique challenges of hiring for startups where culture fit and adaptability are as important as technical skills.
During your 60-day volunteer term, you'll focus on sourcing candidates, conducting initial screenings, coordinating interviews, and supporting the candidate experience. You'll learn to write compelling job descriptions, use applicant tracking systems (ATS), screen resumes for key qualifications, and conduct phone screens to assess candidate fit. Working closely with founders and hiring managers, you'll understand what makes someone successful in a startup environment and develop the judgment needed for effective talent screening.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals exploring HR careers, recent graduates interested in people operations, or professionals transitioning into recruitment and talent acquisition. You'll work independently with regular guidance, allowing flexibility within your 3-hour daily commitment while building a foundation in recruitment fundamentals that are valued across all industries.
Company Needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for candidate interactions
- Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple job openings
- Comfortable conducting phone/video screenings and asking interview questions
- Familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter or willingness to learn quickly
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, and basic ATS platforms (Greenhouse, Lever, or similar)

What you will doVolunteer Activities
- Write and post job descriptions for open positions on job boards and LinkedIn
- Source candidates using LinkedIn, job boards, and referral networks
- Screen resumes and applications against job requirements
- Conduct 3-5 initial phone screens per week to assess candidate fit
- Schedule interviews between candidates and hiring managers
- Maintain organized candidate records in the ATS
- Provide timely communication and updates to candidates throughout the process
- Gather feedback from interviewers and update candidate status
