Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Remote (NYS/NJ/East Coast Preferred)
Salary: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Est. 3 days per week, 24 hours
Position Type: Direct-Hire or Temp-to-Hire dependent on candidate
Overview: Our client seeks experienced Payroll professional to join their team. This is a fully remote part-time position and is an ideal fit for anyone highly detail oriented with experience processing multi-state payroll functions.
Core Responsibilities:Payroll Processing: Verify employee timesheets, calculate wages, overtime, and bonuses, and process payroll via direct deposit or check on established bi-weekly schedule.
Compliance & Taxes: Process tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and submit required local, state, and federal tax filings across multiple states.
Data Management: Input and update payroll data including benefits deductions, exemptions, and direct deposit preferences.
Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for staff inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, and tax forms.
Reporting: Reconcile payroll accounts, generate reports for management, and assist with internal or external audits.
Insurance/Deductions: Handling workers compensation insurance, including annual audit. Coordinating health plan and IRA deductions from employee payrolls.
Administrative: Other admin tasks as assigned during down time.
Qualifications & Requirements:Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, along with 2-4 years of dedicated payroll experience. Considerable payroll experience void of a degree to be considered.
Technical Skills: High proficiency with payroll and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks) and proficient Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
Compliance Knowledge: A strong understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), tax regulations, and payroll processing best practices.
Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
