2. About the Opportunity:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing the entire payroll process to ensure accurate and timely compensation for employees across multiple states. This role supports the finance team by maintaining payroll records, liaising with payroll system providers and human resources, and ensuring compliance with payroll-related regulations. The position contributes to organizational efficiency and employee satisfaction by safeguarding payroll accuracy and integrity.
3. Responsibilities:
• Process biweekly multi-state payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees accurately and on time.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to manage payroll operations including salaries, benefits, deductions, and taxes.
• Gather necessary documentation for new state payroll setups and registrations.
• Prepare payroll reports for senior management and relevant departments regularly.
• Respond professionally and promptly to employee payroll inquiries.
• Support audits and internal control reviews related to payroll.
• Provide payroll data for worker’s compensation policies and audits.
• Prepare payroll and benefits-related general ledger entries.
• Ensure compliance with governmental reporting and regulations.
• Maintain data integrity and control processes to protect organizational assets.
• Identify and resolve recurring payroll and system issues in coordination with vendors.
• Review payroll and benefits administration processes and recommend policy improvements.
• Approve workflows for direct deposit and tax form changes.
4. Requirements:
• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience managing multi-state payroll.
• Experience preparing accounting journal entries.
• Experience with annual audits, payroll filings, and new state registrations.
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of payroll and benefit principles.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with all organizational levels.
• Proficiency with Excel and HR systems.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The anticipated salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
