I'm running a confidential search for an early-stage SaaS company in the recruitment-tech space. They're looking for their founding commercial hire, the person who will own how the product grows.

About the company
It's a lead-generation and sales-intelligence platform built specifically for recruiters — independent headhunters and small-to-mid agencies. It detects live hiring signals (open roles, funding rounds, expansion and growth news from public and firmographic data sources) and pinpoints the decision-makers behind them.
On top of that sits an AI layer that writes the outreach itself: it reads each signal, analyses the context, and drafts a message tailored to why you're reaching out — a specific open role, a fresh funding round, a market move. The result lands as genuinely personal and useful, not a template with a name dropped in. Recruiters get a ready-to-run workflow instead of a raw list.
Think Apollo or Lusha — purpose-built for the recruitment industry, with the AI doing the contextual heavy lifting. The model is freemium: sign up free, test without credits, scale into paid tiers.
You'd join a small, early-stage team as the person who owns commercial growth, working directly with the founder. The founder is a serial entrepreneur with four exits across HR Tech and IT Services, including a successful technology startup.
The role
You own how the product grows. Not one channel — the entire funnel, from a stranger landing on the site to a paying, active user. This is a founding role: you build the motion, then you build the team. Primary markets: UK, Netherlands, Germany.
What you'll own
First months — product completing, motion to seed:
- Generate the first cohorts of signups through outbound, LinkedIn, and content.
- Stand up the self-serve funnel and lifecycle — activation, free-to-paid conversion.
- Build content and SEO from scratch.
Then — scaling the machine:
- Run acquisition → activation → conversion → expansion as one measured, optimised system.
- Shape pricing and packaging alongside the founder and growth engineer.
- Recruit and lead a remote growth team — within ~12 months.
You
Must have:
- Run a freemium / self-serve / PLG B2B SaaS funnel end to end — owned acquisition through conversion, not one slice of it.
- Hands-on content and SEO. You write and ship, not brief and wait.
- Comfortable with funnel data — cohorts, conversion rates, CAC, payback. You decide on evidence.
- Fluent English, and fully autonomous in a remote, unstructured, early-stage setup.
Nice to have:
- German — accelerates the DE market.
- Done 0→1 before, or been a first GTM hire.
- Built or managed a small remote team.
- Fluent with the tooling — Apollo, Lusha, Clay, Smartlead, lifecycle/email platforms.
- A background in recruitment or HR-tech.
Not a fit:
- Enterprise AE wired for high-ACV, sales-led, demo-and-close selling.
- A brand/marketing generalist who's never carried revenue or a funnel.
