Due to significant ongoing customer demand, we are seeking further SAP Payroll Consultants to join our well established and fast-growing configuration and functional consulting division.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for an SAP Payroll Consultant with at least 5 years' experience configuring SAP Payroll or Employee Central Payroll. This is a role where prior experience of setting up and maintaining SAP Payroll systems is essential, as opposed to running and testing of those systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in these areas through relevant experience and education. You will bring:
- At least 5 years’ experience configuring SAP Payroll or Employee Central Payroll
- Expertise in building SAP Payroll or Employee Central Payroll systems from the ground up
- A thorough understanding of SAP Payroll architecture, including schemas, rules (PCRs), wage types, counters and cumulators, from input through configuration to calculations and final payroll results
- The ability to explain payroll systems clearly and in detail, including schema flow, required inputs and dependencies, and the rationale behind configuration decisions and resulting outcomes
- The ability to design SAP Payroll solutions that absorb complex business processes, multiple steps, handoffs and checks using schemas, counters and cumulators notional wage types, and automated validations -
- An understanding of business and payroll requirements and the ability to configure appropriately tailored solutions
- Experience across multiple SAP payroll implementations (not just a single system)
- An understanding of Payroll to Finance integration processes
- Exposure to SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central integration
- SAP HCM and HR data migration experience
- Probable certification in SAP Central Payroll, SAP HR/Payroll (ECC6), or SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Core
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
- A degree in a related field
About the roleConfiguration & Implementation
- Design, configure, and maintain SAP Payroll schemas, subschemas, rules, and wage types for Australian and NZ requirements
- Design and implement time evaluation configurations and integrate results into payroll schema processing
- Build and maintain end-to-end payroll processing structures from scratch, including schema architecture and processing logic
- Configure pay scale structures, organisational management integration, and off-cycle processing within payroll schemas
- Leverage schemas, counters, cumulators, and notional wage types to streamline and automate complex payroll processes
Systems Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution of complex SAP Payroll issues, including schema- and rule-level analysis
- Diagnose payroll calculation discrepancies and optimise existing schemas and configurations for efficiency, accuracy, and stability
- Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
Client & Stakeholder Liaison
- Work directly with clients to understand payroll and HR business requirements
- Translate business requirements into SAP Payroll configuration decisions, including schema and rule design
- Collaborate with payroll teams, business stakeholders, and implementation partners
- Clearly articulate system behaviour, schema logic, and configuration decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
