About The Role

The HR Generalist manages core people operations for a distributed technology organization, supporting employee lifecycle processes across onboarding, performance management, leave administration, benefits, payroll coordination, and offboarding. The role serves as a trusted operational partner to employees, managers, and the People team.

This role keeps HR programs accurate, compliant, and scalable as the organization grows. The HR Generalist will administer systems such as Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, Greenhouse, or similar platforms; maintain reliable employee data; and use reporting to identify process gaps and improve the employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employee lifecycle workflows across the HRIS, ATS, payroll, benefits, onboarding, transfers, and offboarding processes
  • Maintain accurate employee records, organizational data, and documentation in systems such as Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, or similar tools
  • Coordinate benefits enrollment, leave administration, payroll inputs, and vendor communications while protecting confidential employee information
  • Support managers and employees with policy interpretation, performance-cycle administration, workplace questions, and day-to-day people operations
  • Prepare HR reports and dashboards covering headcount, turnover, onboarding completion, leave utilization, and other workforce metrics
  • Maintain and improve HR policies, processes, templates, and internal documentation to support a distributed and remote-first workforce
  • Coordinate compliance activities across federal, state, and Washington, DC employment requirements, partnering with legal or external providers as needed

What We Are Looking For

  • 3-6 years of experience in HR generalist, people operations, or HR operations roles, preferably in a technology company
  • Working knowledge of employee lifecycle administration, benefits, leave management, payroll coordination, performance programs, and employment compliance
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and people tools such as Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, Greenhouse, Gusto, or comparable platforms
  • Strong data-management and reporting skills, including advanced spreadsheet usage and the ability to audit records for accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with sound judgment when handling sensitive employee matters
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Bonus: SHRM-CP or PHR certification; experience supporting remote or multi-state teams; familiarity with people analytics, HRIS implementations, or Washington, DC employment practices
