Role Description The Payroll Administrator is a full-time remote role responsible for accurately processing payroll for district employees and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining payroll records, verifying time and attendance data, calculating wages and deductions, and preparing payroll reports. The role also involves administering garnishments, coordinating payroll-related taxes, and supporting employee benefits processing in collaboration with HR and finance teams. The Payroll Administrator responds to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and deductions, and assists with resolving discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the district in a remote environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Payroll Administration, including end-to-end payroll processing and payroll record management.
- Knowledge of Garnishments and Payroll Taxes, with the ability to apply relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Experience supporting Employee Benefits as they relate to payroll, such as deductions and eligibility coordination.
- Fundamental Accounting skills, including reconciliation, basic ledger entries, and report preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with payroll systems and related software (e.g., HRIS, timekeeping, and Microsoft Excel).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide clear guidance to employees.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage deadlines, and handle confidential information responsibly.
- Previous experience in education, public sector, or a large multi-site organization is beneficial.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
